American Idol's LIVE!
American Idol's LIVE Season 9!!!!!!
My Aunt Debbie, Cousin Christen, Myself and My Mom
So, I'm pretty much obsessed with Idol (I'm sure you haven't been able to figure that out by now haha) and OF COURSE we went to the Idol's concert last night!! It actually was scheduled to be held in September at the new Consol Energy Center but last week we got an email saying they moved it to yesterday and it was going to be at Starlake. Sooooooo SURPRISE!! We got to go 2 months early!
First off. Thank god we weren't on vacation! Second off. They gave crappy seats that apparently were 'comparable' to the seats we bought at Consol. mmmmhmmmm. riiiiiight. AND THEN we paid $50 for our tickets and yesterday they were selling tickets for 10 freaking dollars!!! Like, excuse me- whatttt?! Kinda ridic. But we ended up moving to the first row of the second session to watch the first half of the concert. The second half of the concert we went down to the front section and sat about 10 rows from the stage.
The Idols performed in the order they were kicked off. So Didi came out first... ummm... (Sorry Von) but it was a pretty boring way to start the show. She sounded ok on her first song and then she sang 'Terrified' the song that she sang in Hollywood week (Kara's song) and she sounded really good on that one.
Then Andrew came out and sang his two songs. Here's a preview of what he sang - haha loved when he sang this song on the show!!
Katie Stevens came out next and blewwwww me away. I thought she was good on Idol, but WOW. She was awesome in person! When I told her that she sounded awesome and she gave me the biggest smile and was sooo genuinely thankful for the compliment. She was really really nice. I liked her a lot.
Here's a creepy picture of me being like 4 people away from her but her looking at my camera to get a pic hahaha. It was really funny because me and Christen were all excited to see the Idols and my mom and Aunt kept being like turn around, turn around!! smile! take a picture! haha so we got some great keepers like the pic above hahaha.
Then after Katie came and blew me away my boyfriend came on the stage next. *sigh* Ohhhhh I love me some Tim Urban. I'm just going to post some beautiful pictures of him and a video.
So after Tim came out and I wiped up all my drool, Sioban came out. Ok. I can definitely appreciate people who are different. Hey, it's what makes the world go round, but I just really don't get Sioban. She really came out and rocked it with 'Paint it Black' (check the vid) - honestly, she did a greatttttt job with it... but afterwards when she was signing autographs, idk. She was just... out there.
After Sioban sang a lil Gwen Stefani, Aaron came out. He does have a good voice but I was completely bored with his set. AND he's seriously like the smallest guy I've ever seen. Like my 13 year old brother is bigger than him.
Then the 6 of them came out and sang a song that if Alyssa was at the concert with us she would have probably thrown up at. Miley Cyrus's The Climb. hahahaha
Thennnnn we moved closer to watch the show! haha After intermission Big Mike came out and sang. He's really awesome. Definitely can't dispute the 'Big Mike' nickname.
After Big Mike serenaded us, Casey came out and the crowd got the loudest I'd heard it all night. The girls went crazzzzzy. Now I'll be honest. I wasn't a fan during the show. I mean, I think he's a very talented guitarist, but his voice was so-so. After seeing him live I totally take it back. He was the biggest surprise of the night. He did a GREAT job. He was really good... and he actually is reallllllyyyy cute in person! :-)
Here's a video (sorry it's blurry) of Big Mike and Casey singing If You Really Love A Woman (which was one of my favorite parts of the concert)
THEN CAME CRYSTAL!!! SHE WAS AWESOME!!!!!!!! I loved her! She's just a great performer. She had great stage presence and I loved her performances. I wish I could have just seen her perform the entire concert. I definitely will be getting her cd when it comes out :-) I loved during one of her songs she put down her guitar and sang with nothing in her hands. It was great to see her out of her comfort zone. She really is so talented.
And last, but not least, it was a Beautiful Day when Lee came out!! haha He was a really good performer as well. Very captivating. LOVED his voice live. Loved it.
So all in all it ended up being a good concert and we got to meet all of them (obvi). We were really disappointed in the beginning because #1 there was like noooo one there. Every single year we go to the concert and usually there are a tooooonnnnnnnnnnnn of people. #2 poptarts always sponsors the show and always pumps everybody up and they didn't do that this year. Not to mention you usually walk out with so many free poptarts hahaha. Also there were not t-shirt scalpers outside! That's usually where I get my tie-dyed idol shirts! hahaha
So until next year... you know I'll be at the concert. The only one I've missed so far was the year I started working because I was flying out to Phoenix the day of the concert. I was prettttty pissed, won't lie.
Oh well....
LISTEN TO THISSSSS!!!
So I just downloaded all of the Atari albums. I used to be soooo obsessed with them when I was in high school. Ataris- Takeoffs and Landings Definitely a band I used to go to Club Laga in Oakland to go see.
I remember my boyfriend in highschool used to play their songs too. Haha they had a band- 3ML aka 3 minutes later- and they always used to cover songs like that. Awwweee I loved that. haha

SHOCKED!!
So random. But I just felt like I needed to post this.
I went on a music binge the other day and downloaded a ton of new albums. One of them was Eminem's Recovery. I'll be honest- I thought I'd like a few songs and that'd be it... but I'm finding it hard to find a song I DON'T LIKE!!!
It's really a good cd.
I'm not sure which is my favorite song yet, but I'm posting this one because it's called W.T.P. standing for White Trash Party. hahaha
Check it ouuuuutttttttttt and tell me what you think!!!

What's your texting style?
Do I like to text? Why don't you ask my March phone bill where I racked up over 6,000 texts in just 3 weeks. (ok probably a lil ridiculous... ok a lot ridiculous) Or maybe ask my friends who I never talk to on the phone because I pretty much only text. I never use my minutes unless it's a work call or my mom is calling. haha
I find it funny to look at how people text. Some always are proper and use the correct punctuation, others use abbreviations, others use numbers and slag. I'm a person who usually types exactly how I talk. I always draaaagggg out words like I would if I was talking and wanted to emphasize a word. I always use the word 'like' and I def use abbrevs. What's your texting style?
I always take it personally if people give me like 2 word answers. Like if I ask a question and someone gives me a 'ya' answer I always think okkkk maybe they don't want to talk to me? Isn't it funny how everyone takes things differently. One person can read into your text one way and another person could read it a completely different way.
It's always funny to text someone new too- you never know how they're going to take your texts or how to take their texts. I guess I might come on sttttrroonngg so I apologize if I ever text you and I'm annoying. haha.
There's no way I could ever live without my phone... next week I'm going on a cruise and I'm starting to have a panic attack thinking about not being able to text.
LISTEN TO THIS RIGHT NOW! This song is awesome- I'm loovvvinngggg it right now!!
Basshunter- Saturday
So text onnnnn... you know I'll always answer ;-)

Pittsburgh Idol
NEW VIDEO POSTED: Check out my audition from today's Pittsburgh Idol auditions!!
Over 200 people showed up to sing for 30 seconds to win an expenses paid trip to new york for a guaranteed audition with the American Idol producers!
I didn't get to the best part of my song because I was trying not to rush and take my time... ohhh well. What can ya do. I'm not holding my breath because it's extremely hard to pick just one person out of over 200 based on 30 secs, buuuuttt I guess they're going to do it.
Oh well, it was a fun day :-)
Check it -
Heard this song on a few different podcasts, each time in a different remix. I can't decide which I like the most yet- but here's the original radio edit of the song. Youtube it and listen to different remixes of it too!!!

it's the end of an era
Wow. Who would have thought I'd be upset about the Hills series finale?! Nothing ever happens in this show, all these people do are party and get into drama with each other.
Thinking back to years ago I can remember my roommate Steph and I complaining that seriously nothing ever happened on this show but we haaaaaad to watch it. We couldn't miss an episode! It all started with Laguna Beach and look how far they've all come! LC's moved on, Lo still looks the same and pretty much still is pretty boring, Kristin is still annoying and such a brat and Stephen... hmm, what ever happened to Stephen? He was cute. Bet ya didn't know this- Stephen Colleti was in Taylor Swift's White Horse music video!!
Thinking back to Laguna Beach- do you guys remember Jessica? And Kristin would always be like 'OMG Jesssssica, you have to dumb Jason. He's cheating on you! You're crazy' and then years later didn't LC date Jason? haha oh god. Or remember Doug? Ha! He went on to date Paris Hilton! Talk about life changing... And then remember when they tried to have the show after LC and Kristin moved on and had like their siblings. Ewa, I didn't like that very much. Def didn't watch it.
But as I'm sitting here watching the Hills episodes wind down and watching the cast members arrive at their series finale I can't help but wish I would have grown up in California and would have been so lucky to be picked on that show. I mean, honestly. Think about it. If you were in 10th/11th grade and MTV would have selected you to be on a reality tv show. Think of where you'd be right now. I could probably venture to say probably not where you are right now- I'm sure I wouldn't be sitting on my couch, in my parent's basement, writing about how I wish MTV would have picked me to be on a reality tv show.
People I won't miss:
Heidi- I hate you and Spencer. You are the most annoying people on the entire planet.
Spencer- you're crazy, insane and I actually cannot stand you.
Charlie- you're the creepiest man alive.
Stacie- you should have never graduated from the title of 'bartender' - I'm still really not sure why you were made a reoccurring role on the show
Kristin- I didn't like you in Laguna Beach and I still don't like you.
People I will miss:
Stephanie- I actually grew to like you over the last few years. At first I hated you because you were Spencer's sister, but then you lost weight and stopped being crazy and were more relatable and now I like you.
Lo- You're the only normal one on the show.
Audrina- Although you're not the smartest tool in the box, you're the one on the show I feel like I'd get along the most with. Get me a job with mussssiiicccc.
Justin Bobby- Idk why, but I do actually like you. I'll miss your dirty ways.
Brody- I just want to marry you. You're beautiful. (and then I could be simi-related to the Kardashians)
Anddddd last, but not least, LC I already miss you. I have missed you so much this last season!!
So the Hills comes to an end in 30 minutes ... THANK GOD the Jersey Shore starts back up in a few days.
What do you guys think of the finale?!
Check out the new Kanye West song POWER- it's awwwwweeeesssommmeee!! I'm loving itttt!!!!

Wouldn't it be... the best damn day
Ever listen to a song and it takes you right back to a specific event/place/situation? Today I had my ipod on shuffle and O.A.R. came on soooooo I decided it was definitely an O.A.R. listening day. Every time I listen to O.A.R. I immediately am taken back to my sophomore year of college, sitting at my desk, blaring O.A.R. getting ready to see them at Fall Fest! I remember I was dating this kid at the time who lovvveeeed O.A.R. so he was coming down to see them. It was a great concert - I remember singing along to all the songs, the weather was perfect and my former roommate Jackie and I found a new love of vodka mixed with diet dr. pepper. (can't drink it anymore because I'm pretty sure I drank way too much of it that night)
It's so funny how songs can really take you from your current setting and whisk you away to somewhere completely different.
The Taylor Swift Fearless cd makes me think of the day we left for our Disney cruise last year. Every song I hear reminds me of driving my old boyfriend's car down McKnight Rd with the windows down and singing a long. I had dropped him off at work because I was just going to pick him up and then head to the airport and I had just gotten the cd a day or two before so I was still obsessed with listening to it.
The Gorillza's Feel Good Inc (or Pimp Ah as Steph and I call it haha) and any Lil Jon old school song reminds me of the parties my roommate Steph and I used to have. The Black Eye Pea's My Humps reminds me of a party at my friend Ian's house. We were all playing beer pong and all the guys were dancing around - wish you could have seen it because it was hhhiiilllaarriioouussss. DJ Sammy's Heaven reminds me of driving to high school with my friend Anna blaring it and singing.
What songs take you back to another place? There are seriously soooooooooo many that come to mind...

Finally doing me and it feels so right, ohhh
Have you ever stopped and looked at your life and thought- wow... 6 months ago I really didn't think my life would be what it is right now.
Over the last 4 days of being so freaking sick (and it's totally ruining my 4th of July long weekend, ughhh), I've really been doing a lot of thinking about where I am, what I'm doing and where I want to go.
Jason Derulo's Ridin' Solo lyric's are really ringing true with me right now. I feel like the last year or two I've really been loosing myself and now I'm really spending time on me and getting myself back to where I want to be. :-)
I feel like one thing that can really make or break my mood is music. Music can help you through any situations of life. Happy times, sad times, trying times- I really feel that I can always rely on the lyrics or beats of my favorite songs. I know that I've already talked about this song a few posts ago, but 'I Can Do Better Than That' from The Last Five Years really is such a great song that really always puts me in a great mood. Something about singing along to it just really helps me! But there are 2 no fail ways to get me in a great mood 1. Christmas music or 2. Celine Dion.
I honestly wish it was Christmas time every single moment of the year. And if we couldn't have that, I wish it was at least acceptable to keep up your christmas trees and decorations and listen to christmas music. It's kind of funny because usually I hate how the radio plays the same 10 songs over and over and over again. But with Christmas music- I can listen to the same 10 songs, sung by 20 different people over and ovvvvver again. I always keep some Christmas tunes on my ipod throughout the year and bust them out every now and then. haha ;-)
I'm pretty much obsessed with Celine Dion. She really is my idol. Ever since I was little I've idolized her. Growing up we always used to listen to her and Gloria Estefan. I still remember the first concerts for both performers that we attended. If you were to look at the music on my computer I have about every single Celine cd that she's released on it. If you were to ask me what my favorite song is I honestly wouldn't even be able to answer that question. There are so many different songs on her albums that are my favorites for different reasons. Any time I'm getting ready to sing- for a wedding, a competition, anything!- I always put her music on and she always gives me a good warm up.
What kind of songs help you out in tough situations? Happy situations? Get you in the partyin' mood?
One of my favorite songs right now is Danny Gokey (aka my boyfriend)'s My Best Days Are Ahead of Me. Watch this video- I love all the quotes in it :-)

What kind of techno music do you like? ... *blank stare*
I remember when I first started listening to electronic dance music. I met a DJ from the Netherlands and he asked me what type of electronic music was my favorite. I had no idea what he meant? I NEVER knew there were so many different genres in the electronic music family. I bet you didn't either - check them out here.
Now, I'm definitely not claiming to be an expert by any means of electronic dance music and generally tend to spend more of my listening days within the Trance and House families. Even saying 'ohhh I listen to trance and house music' is soooo high level. Take for instance Trance. There are numerous genres within Trance for example- Classic Trance, Acid Trance, Progressive Trance, Uplifting Trance, Vocal Trance, Hard Trance, etc. It's so interesting to me that there are so many subsets in each genre.
It really irritates me when people are like - that's not music, why do you listen to that. Take a look at that link in the first paragraph. There are so many genres within electronic house music, each with their own technique and style. How is that not music? I'm really a person that appreciates so many different styles of music. Over the last few years I've really been trying to familiarize myself with all the different genres within electronic dance music. I won't lie, I'm kind of aspiring to be a trance singer... I know I could be awesome at it.
While in europe I was immersed in so many different types. It honestly is one of the main drivers of me wanting to go back. Here in Pittsburgh it's pretty impossible to find a place spinning the top trance or house beats and if they start to play a song they usually go and mix it with something that's on the top 40 here and the song doesn't really get played. The other problem is I feel like this music isn't as accepted out in the public here (I'm speaking specifically of Pittsburgh) than it is in other places. I could only imagine that bigger cities as in NYC, Chicago, Miami are playing these songs. I know I always hear of my favorite DJs coming and playing shows in NYC and DC and always want to make the trip out to see them... but have yet to do so. SO if anyone is willing to take a road trip the next time I see one of my fav DJs are playing LET ME KNOW!!
A really great Trance group is Lasgo. They're a Belgian threesome and actually the lead singer Evi Goffin left a few years back (she wanted to be a full time mom!) and they replaced her with a new one. They actually had a televised competition to find the new lead vocalist. Jelle van Dael is now the lead singer.
Here are a few of their top singles:
These have Evi as the Lead:Lasgo- Surrender
Lasgo- Something
Lasgo- Alone
Lasgo- Pray
Lasgo- All Night Long
These have Jelle as the Lead:
Lasgo- Gone
Lasgo- Out of My Mind
Lasgo- Lost
Lasgo- Over You
Their most recent album 'Smile' came out in October. You should check it out- it's pretty good :-)
Ennnnjoyyyyy

These have Evi as the Lead:
Lasgo- Something
Lasgo- Alone
Lasgo- Pray
Lasgo- All Night Long
These have Jelle as the Lead:
Lasgo- Gone
Lasgo- Out of My Mind
Lasgo- Lost
Lasgo- Over You
Their most recent album 'Smile' came out in October. You should check it out- it's pretty good :-)
Ennnnjoyyyyy
